The La Porte Saint Jean consists of 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from two different plots just outside of Montreuil-Bellay in Saumur. Half the fruit is 70 years old, and the other half is 20 years old grown on sand & clay, and then aged 24 months in old and new oak. Winemaker Sylvain Dittière's style is all about patience -- this wine is rich, structured and elegant, and deserves a few years in the cellar to full come into itself.
- Sylvain Dittière comes from a family of growers - rose growers; he decided grapevines were more interesting and began an apprenticeship at the iconic Domaine du Collier.
- Some of Sylvain’s mentors include Marc Tempé in Alsace, Gérard Gauby, and Thierry Germain.
