During 2023's harvest, I found myself marveling at how energetic a fermenter of red grapes was smelling. Like one of those candy stores where you can see folks pulling fresh taffy in the window. It immediately sparked a childlike whimsy and I wanted to capture every ounce of that in bottle. We grabbed the nearest roll of painter's tape that we use to label literally *everything* and wrote, "Fruit Snacks" across the tank's side.

From that day forward, the winery felt like a schoolyard buzzing with excitement about what else could add more color and vibrancy to the mix. I tend to spend much of those early days listening for where the wines want to go, but this year I was hunting for pieces to a Lisa Frank mural in my mind. It's why we even tapped our dear friend, artist and comedian, Julie Greiner to make the labels with us.

At the blending table, my goal is always to build dimensionality. To find layers early on that will continue to emerge and develop in harmony for wines built to last under the Pray Tell compass pointed towards elegance. But with Fruit Snacks, there's a whole different approach. I prioritized expressions from various varietals that showcased a strong emphasis on primary fruit and confectionary characteristics that feel celebratory of the vintage.

Ever since starting Pray Tell, I've always wanted to release a series of wines that may serve as a peak into the jubilant evolution of making wine. While the many mature siblings from the 2023 vintage will remain in barrel, developing increasing complexity and dimensionality, this first iteration of Fruit Snacks red wine shares a purity of fruit to enjoy along that journey.

Equal parts Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, and Malbec. All aged in neutral oak and stainless steel for a short five months before being bottled.

I swear we should sell this stuff in six packs!
